Job Responsibilities:

Meeting with public officials and consumers regarding the use of land.
Gather and analyse economic and environmental studies, censuses, and market research data
Involves staying up to date with the demands of the consumers about their lifestyle and way of living.
A lot of field visits and work is also required in order to understand the land and the resources around it.
Review the plans and make the necessary changes if required.
Prepare Master plans, Regional plans, Sector plans, District and Neighbourhood plans.
Prepare Physical layout plans for residential, Commercial, Institutional, Recreational, Industrial areas and Tourism Development plans.
Conduct of Socio-economic impact assessment and Demographic studies.
Prepare Environmental Impact Assessment, Site Analysis and Environmental Audit Reports
Conduct of transportation and Traffic management studies.
Direct and control the Process of City Development.
Prepare Slum Improvement programmes and housing projects.
Prepare feasibility reports and planning briefs.
Advocate for Communities and Individuals.
Provide Professional advice for real estate/Property developers.

Work Life:

Expected to constantly go on field visit to know the status of the project work.
They often collaborate with public officials, engineers, architects, lawyers, and developers and must give presentations, attend meetings, and manage projects.
Urban and regional planners often travel to sites to inspect the land conditions and use. Those involved in inspecting development sites may spend much of their time in the field.
