Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate with labour and manpower at building sites
Design layout for future industrial facilities
Determine the cost effectiveness of given programs and mechanical projects
Inspecting machinery to ensure everything is up to specified safety code
Design new systems, equipment and processes for the introduction of new products or the improvement of existing ones
Plan and organise maintenance of equipment
Identify faults, investigate production problems and repair equipment quickly and efficiently
Supervise junior engineers and sub-contractors and ensure effective communication in order to avoid errors
Organise plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time and profits
Keep statistical and financial records and work with finance professionals to manage budgets

Work Life:

They communicate with clients and vendors to obtain materials and equipment.
They spend part of their workday using computers to plan production schedules and budget for specific projects
Production Engineers may need to travel for training purposes or if the company has plants at other locations.
On a day to day basis, engineer's supervisory duties involve training the team of workers on safety and quality assurance protocols
