Overview:

A nurse is a primary point of contact for the patient and their families. Taking care of patients’ daily health reports, cure plans etc. are part of daily work routine of a nurse. They constantly have to monitor the condition of patients and administer prescribed medicines at regular intervals. They also assist medical specialists and help set up medical equipment in operation theatres and clinical laboratories.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist doctors with physical examination and patient care.
Look after the needs of patients who are incapable of doing so.
Keep an eye on the vital signs of the patient ( blood pressure, heart rate, food intake, medications, etc.)
Deal with patient empathetically and help the patient and his family to maintain proper health and hygiene.
Assess and plan nursing care requirements
Provide pre and post operation care
Writing records
Supervise the junior staff and tutor student nurses
Organise workloads

Work Life:

They mostly accompany doctors.
Their day usually starts by taking handover from the nurse who was handling the previous shift.
They go through the doctor’s notes and check in with the patients and record their status.
During emergencies, they should be able to handle the condition of the patient by taking an immediate action till doctor arrives.
Nurses usually work in shifts i.e. day or night and their daily work can be mentally and physically exhausting.
