Overview:
Investment Analyst is a finance professional who makes sure that all facts for making a financial decision are in place. Investment analysts produce research and buy, sell or hold recommendations for securities. For example, in a mutual fund brokerage firm, an investment analyst generally produce recommendations for company agents who use the information to sell investments to individual clients and the public at large. On the buy side of the market, which includes hedge funds, pension funds and wealth management firms, analysts usually produce research and recommendations for the company's own investment managers who use the information to buy and sell securities directly. Professionals in this field are also known as Securities Analyst or Financial Analyst. This job is highly demanding, but pay and benefits are quite high.
Career Path:
Commerce and Business graduates can look at a career as an Investment Analyst. MBA from top institutes or higher degree in Mathematics or Financial disciplines is usually required to move into management level roles. Certifications like CFA is highly regarding in this profession.
