Overview:
Indian Navy, is the 7th most powerful navy in the world. It has over 300,000 tons of seafaring vessels. Widely the role of Indian navy is classified into four categories: the Military role, the Diplomatic role, Constabulary role and the Benign Role. They are responsible for deterrence against war as well as foreign interventions, maintaining the country's territorial integrity, safeguarding the shores and surveillance. The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation’s maritime borders and in-conjunction with other Armed Forces of the union. The Navy is responsible for defending the extensive Indian coastline in times of aggression. In peacetime, they safeguard maritime interests. The Navy operates a vast fleet of destroyers, freights, corvettes, submarines and other support vessels. It also safeguards offshore oil and gas installations, coastal shipping, and fishery rights and protects important trade links.

- Pass Indian Navy (sailor direct entry). (MER exam with 55% or above in maths & science in class 10th and 55% or above in class 12th in maths & science. Preference is given to students who have computer knowledge)
- Graduation in Any Discipline (Open to pre-final year students if they have the required Certificate)
- Pursue Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electronics and Telecommunication /Control Engineering equivalent qualification recognized by Institute
- Pass UPSC and Clear NDA
- Pursue Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunications / Aeronautical or Ship Building / Instrumentation Engineering / Metallurgical / Polytechnic

Higher education/After Graduation Courses: |
- Pass the CDS UPSC Eligible to join through NCC Special Scheme Entry provided you have "C" Certificate.(NCC Special Entry Scheme for SD Wings graduates in OTA in group 19-25 years with 50% marks, through DDG of states for direct interview (SSB) every year. The Cadets are exempted from CDS examination conducted by UPSC. The Cadets should have 'A' or 'B' grade in 'C' certificate examination)
- Indian Navy Direct Entry Artificer Apprentice Exam after Diploma
- Indian Naval technical Exam for applying in Engineering, Electrical and Submarine branch and SNAES after Engineering degree
- Apply for Indian Navy Law & Logistics Cadre exam to get enrolled as an Executive & JAG in Indian Navy after completing LLB

How to join Indian Navy?
Selection for Permanent Commission through NDA/NA cadet entry and CDSE (Graduate) entry is through a written examination conducted by UPSC, followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). For all other Permanent Commission entries and Short Service Commission entries there is no written examination. Applicants are short-listed as per criteria laid down by the Naval Headquarters, (Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment). Selection is through merit alone.
