Overview:

Install and repair heating, air conditioning, HVAC, and refrigeration systems, such as oil burners, hot-air furnaces, and heating stoves.

Images

Post-secondary instruction leading to a certificate or an associates degree is required. These programs generally last from 6 months to 2 years.

Using measuring devices, mark out reference points for the installation of structural and functional components.
Dehumidifiers or comparable equipment should be installed in locations that require cool, dry air to function properly, such as computer rooms.
Using hand tools and acetylene welding equipment, install the compressor, condenser, and other components in specific locations on the frames.
Using a hoist or a block and tackle, lift and align components into place.
Assistants should be supervised and instructed.
Using electrician's hand tools, lay out and connect electrical wiring connecting controls and equipment according to wiring diagrams.

Work 40 hours a week
Work is irregular, depending on weather conditions, customer demand or contract duration.
