Overview:
Farming is the process of growing crops and/or animals. A farmer is responsible for the entire process, from sowing seeds until selling the end product. There are many specializations in this field, such as sericulture, horticulture, pisciculture, apiculture, dairy farming, poultry farming, etc. It is a profession that requires both physical and mental efforts. Further, farming can also be a risky venture as factors such as climate, soil quality, pests, etc., can influence the success of the end product. However, it is the profession that feeds every individual and will always be essential, providing immense employment opportunities.
Career Path:
Stream of Study at 12th: |
Students who wish to become farmers can opt for the Science stream at the 12th level. After 10th, students can also pursue Certificate and Diploma courses in Agriculture, Agriculture Science, Agriculture and Allied Practices, Analytics in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Biofertilizer Production, Food Processing, Food and Beverage Service, etc. Most of the courses and institutions requires students to clear an entrance exam like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - All India Entrance Examination (ICAR AIEEA). |
