To adjust the position of dredges, start power winches that draw in or let out cables, or manually pull in and let out wires.
To clear the machinery tubes, pump water.
Position dredges for excavation, engage hydraulic pumps, raise and lower suction booms, and control cutterhead spinning by moving levers.
Use winches to lower anchor poles to verify excavation depths, or scan depth gauges to determine excavation depths.
To operate machinery, start and stop engines.
Direct or assist employees in the installation of shore anchors and cables, the laying of additional dredge-to-shore pipes, and the pumping of water from pontoons
