Overview:
A chef is a professional who is responsible for cooking and serving food. They explore and experiment with different items to provide high-quality dishes. Moreover, they are involved in all the process that culminates in serving food, including preparing the menu, purchasing and stocking supplies, and supervising the entire kitchen staff's work. Chefs are also trained in business skills such as maintaining inventories and accounts. These professionals may also be known as culinary professionals, food curators, or culinary stylists. Further, based on their specialization, they may work with sauces (saute chef), fish (poissonier), vegetables (entremetier), meat (rotisseur), or pastries (patissier). They can also be a pantry chef (garde manger), fry chef (friturier), grill chef (grillardin), or butcher chef (boucher).

Candidates from all streams can choose to become chefs.
Stream of Study at 12th: |
Students who have completed 10th can choose to pursue Diploma or Certificate courses in Hotel Management, Kitchen Management, Culinary Arts, Food Production, Catering Technology, Food and Beverage Science, Bakery and Patisserie, and related areas. They can also join as an apprentice or for an internship to build their knowledge and skills. To pursue graduation or degree courses, students will have to prepare for entrance exams of NCHM JEE, IHM and other institution-specific entrances. |
