Overview:

On the floor, lay and install carpet from rolls or blocks. Padding should be installed and flooring materials should be trimmed.

Material should be cut and bound.
Tackless strips should be measured, cut, and installed along the baseboard or wall.
Remove all furniture from the carpeted area and discard the old carpet and padding.
Use old strips to secure the edges of the new carpet or nail tack strips around the area to be carpeted.
Cut carpet padding to size and install it according to the instructions.
Sew or use tape with glue and a heated carpet iron to join carpet edges and seam edges where necessary.
To keep carpet in place, install metal treads across doorways or where carpet meets flooring.
Stretch the carpet to align it with the walls and create a flat surface, then press it in place over tack strips or staples.
