Overview:
An agronomist works towards increasing the quantity and quality of crops in any given amount of land. They research and develop new techniques, solutions, practices, and technologies to help farmers. These professionals usually work in lab or field environments studying the influence of climatic factors, soil structure, weeds and pests, etc., on agricultural output. They can combine plant genetics, plant physiology, soil science, meteorology to improve crop production.

Stream of Study at 12th: |
Students who wish to become agronomists can opt for the Science stream at the 12th level. After 10th, students can also pursue Certificate and Diploma courses in Agriculture, Agriculture Science, Agriculture and Allied Practices, Analytics in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Biofertilizer Production, Food Processing, Food and Beverage Service, etc. Most of the courses and institutions require students to clear an entrance exam like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - All India Entrance Examination (ICAR AIEEA). |
