Overview:

Acting and Dramatics is a form of art (or) activity in which a story is told by means of its enactment by an actor or actress who adopts a character—in theatre, television, film, radio or any other medium that makes use of the mimetic mode. They are the ones who bring the vision of the director to life and stun the audience with their performance. Be it the theatre, films, or television, actors over the due course of time, become a brand themselves. Actors audition for roles and, if selected, perform those roles to bring the characters to life. Their work might be on a movie or television set, in a theatre, during a live event or any other place where performance is needed. They might work on any level of the profession, from being an extra in a larger cast to appearing in starring roles.

Career Path:

Drama/Acting Industry isn't a degree specific industry. There is no formal educational requirement to become an actor but a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts, drama, acting and performing helps in honing ones acting skills.

Stream of Study in 12th Grade/School:	Arts Science Commerce
Degree/Graduation Courses:	BA (Acting) BA(Drama) Bachelor of Theatre Arts Bachelor of Performing Arts (Drama) Diploma In Acting (Multiple Specialization) for 1-2 years
Higher education/Post Graduation Courses:	M.A (Theatre) M.A (Indian Theatre) Masters in Performing Arts (Drama) Ph.D. degree in Dramatics or in Indian Theatre after completing Master Degree.

Job Responsibilities:

Interpret serious or comic role by speech, gesture and body movement to entertain or inform audience for stage, motion picture, television, radio or other media production.
Rehearse and memorize lines.
Improvise the reactions of a character to a situation.
Promote productions using means such as interviews about plays or movies.
Prepare and perform action stunts for motion picture, television, or stage productions.
Perform in television commercials and photo shoots
Coordinate with the director, photographer, production team and fellow actors and actresses
Attend meetings with agents and hiring production teams

Work Life:

They have to work based on the time and the schedule of the director and role.
Some might spend gruelling hours on set and might work more than 14 hours which could become very stressful and hectic.
Much of an actor’s time is spent in rehearsing their part, working with directors and producers, meeting with agents or casting directors, reading scripts and attending meetings.
Some might tour with a group to perform in many different cities and some might move across the world to film on location.
The paparazzi will always be looking out for private details of your life.
You might have to attend talk shows and travel frequently for various professional commitments.
